My dearest sympathies and most heartfelt prayers go out to the students and family who lost friends and loved ones to this most horrible of tragedies. Apart from that, I don’t really know what to say.
P.S. What do you wanna bet that AiG will blame this on the teeaching of evolution in public schools if they haven’t already? (They didn’t have a post on it a few hours ago when I checked.)
P.S.S. They did.

Today my house was vandalized. My drain pipe was ripped from the house, because apparently people around these parts are so desperate to avoid getting a real job that they’ll swipe any stray bit of metal they can find to sell for scrap. It’s bad enough that we have to deal with all the fucking power outage from idiots stealing copper wire from the electric company (and frequently getting killed in the process) but now they’re vandalizing private homes. God I hate West Virginia.

Hey dude, I heard on the news yesterday that some thugs in Charleston (WV for those of you not here in this wonderful state) actually stole WHLE LIGHT POLES from the Interstate. Yeah, street lights, huge street lights! Pretty gutsy, but how low is that, to darken an exit ramp for the scrap metal.

Wow! I didn’t hear about that. That’s crazy. :O Did they ever catch ‘em?

Dunno, just happened to catch Tim Irr talking about it on the late news. He seemed to get a good laugh out of it, since surely someone noticed a 30 foot pole being hauled off.

west va is not the south….dk if youve looked at a map lately so that’s probably a bad place to associate southern hospitality with….try ga or bama. thanks.

WV is definitely the south. Maybe not the deep south, but West Virginia is definitely Redneckville.

I know this is an old post, but yes, WV is Southern indeed. It just makes no sense when someone says “it’s not Southern”, because it’s BELOW THE MASON-DIXON LINE.

Is it? I agree it should be considered southern because of its culture and position in Appalachia, but since it was Union in the Civil War I always assumed it was north of the line.
Thanks for chiming in!

No prob. Abyssal. Thanks for agreeing with me.
WV was Union, but however, it was forced to be a Unionist state through the Wheeling Convention, along with Lincoln. When WV was still a part of VA in 1861, 2/3 of current WVvoted to join succeed

Sorry about that. I accidentally hit a button on my laptop. But anyway….
2/3 of the present state of WV actually voted to succeed from the U.S., along with 50% of WV’s troops fighting for the Confederacy in the war. Along with that, the first ever Confederate cemetery is located in Keyser, WV.
Here, take a look.

Wow. Thanks, that’s really interesting.

Well, yea, there are negative things about West Virginia, but there are many positive things too. That exists everywhere, no place is perfect, everywhere has it’s flaws. I live in West Virginia actually, and Prichard, the town you mentioned earlier, just happens to be on the other end of the county
There are criminals here like everywhere else, but there are also friendly, kind, country people. I’ve experienced the latter my entire life, and these people do not condone in any way what thieves and robbers do. Just because a handful of people steal copper from the phone lines doesn’t mean we’re all a bunch of thieves or that we’re all lazy. Many West Virginian’s are employed in the coal mines down in the southern part of the state and the factories in the northern part of the state. These are not easy jobs by any means. A lot of the people I know earn a hard and honest pay. Please, don’t stereotype an entire state because of a couple of idiots.

Meh, I was more venting than anything. Of course there are plenty of good people here, as there are anywhere else.
