Hunters and Animals

I’ve heard it said that hunters are good for wildlife conservation; they keep the deer population in check, and it’s in their own best interests to be responsible ’cause hey, if all the animals die there wouldn’t be anything to hunt, right?

Maybe, but this argument always struck me as being a bit odd. Sorta like a klansman being concerned about homelesness among blacks. Because hey, if black people don’t have houses, where would the klan burn their crosses?

Note: This is a cancelled post that I’ve decided has been cluttering up my drafts box for too long. It’s in rough shape, but it’s got working links that someone may be interested in following.

I don’t know if any of you remember that I had said that I was going to go through the peer reviewed journal of the Society for Scientific Exploration and post my thoughts. Well, here I am, finally getting around to it. I suppose that a major reason for the delay is that for this post I’m not just looking through one, but three articles.

The first article is called “Roswell- Anatomy of a Myth.” This article appeared in the Mufon UFO Journal in 1997, but was republished in the SSE’s journal about a year later, along with some critical responses. “Anatomy of a Myth” was written by a UFO researcher named Kent Jeffrey.

Jeffrey was the mind behind the “Roswell Declaration,” a document signed by many UFO researchers for the purpose of petitioning the government to anull security oaths that may be preventing surviving Roswell Incident witnesses from revealing their testimony.

After laying the foundation for the Roswell Declaration endeavor Jeffrey had a “crisis of faith” regarding the Roswell crash situation. “Anatomy of a Myth” documents the events and evidences leading to Jeffrey’s dismissal of the hypothesis that the Roswell debris were extraterrestrial in origin.
